I don't recommend using Auto Levels. Try Command "L" and then do them manually. You'll have more control over what areas the brightness will happen in. Auto Levels works only a handful of times and could really mess up the color of your photo.

Its right, in fact autolevels work find averages between the most black point and the most white point and in some cases, make high contrasts, burning the picture.

This picture in particulary require more controls than levels, I make corrections with the selective controls too. The neutrals can a little bit modified in the channel cyan, with a -10% approximated of absoulute totals.

No corrections in other channels be necessary.

Juan, I also use Selective Colors frequently for color correction and I agree; this photo is a great candidate for that. I did try Selective Colors on this photo and it seems that the skin colors are pretty saturated with black and cyan. Since Yellow and Magenta are very low, it's difficult to get this corrected to look nothing but shadowed.

I also use number to color correct, but most designers don't know how to read numbers.

Yes Cwilk, the numbers works so rigid in some cases, but I learn that they provide exact control to the action when is required. Not this is a case, but when I try to explain how to do that thing, is best them and not say, move a little bit the bar to the left...

I totally understand what you mean.

To get more confusing, masking works well too to select specific areas.
