what is your opinion about design and logo generally

I find it quite flat to be honest. I've seen templates done better. I don't mean to be harsh, but I am personally not keen on any of it.

The logo has interest, so start with that and try some alternatives. From there, start developing onwards. Remember you want your name to be easier read and much as recognisable. Take a look at UK Logo Design or something can see how they are constructed.

Good advice here, ditch the card idea. Start from scratch, the idea of the logo is there, you something to start with, now expand. Make 12 versions of that logo and show them to us. You may do 12 more, then 12 more again, you never know. Can be quite a process, but worth the while and there is a lot of talent here.
