    Choosing the best PC Monitor.

    ADS NOT VISIBLE TO MEMBERS
Hey, first of all, I'm not sure were I should have posted this...

I'm after a monitor for my studio.... the monitor is going to be used for graphic work as well as music recording work... but any monitor's specs for music production will do.. so I'm really looking for a good monitor to do my graphic work on.

I want preferably a 24 inch LCD monitor, and came across the HP w2408h... the only thing I'm worried about is the "hp bright view technology"... which makes the monitor glossy...
It's got very similar specs to the dell true color monitor 24", without the high price tag.

    What do you guys think?

I've heard many good things about dell monitors.
Never really heard much about apple's. Though they do look pretty sharp. Not sure about colour though.

while I cannot speak specifically for alternatives at that size, I can say that my own personal preference for LCD displays is to avoid the Trubrite/glossy finishes -- every manufacturer has their own descriptor.

feedback from my users corroborates my own impressions that they're distracting and uncomfortable to work with due to the highly reflective surface, contributing to eyestrain. one guy says he prefers to work in the dark.

another thing to consider is the maximum resolution -- two points here:
1.) LCD's are only crispest at their highest resolution.
2.) Make sure you are comfortable with this resolution, and that your video card can support it, otherwise you end up with an expensive fuzzy display.

I currently use a pair of Viewsonic VP930b displays mounted side by side on a control arm. I'm quite pleased with their performance -- bright and crisp with reasonably wide viewing angles. here are the specs for comparison.
ViewSonic: Products: LCD Displays: Pro Series: VP930b

I've only used Viewsonic for the past 6-7 years having been a fan of their CRT displays, but I must say, I've grown a bit disappointed with their quality in general as of late. It's nice stuff when it works, but I've had to return for service several new units lately, and it's become a bit of a hassle dealing with them.

I do hear good things about the Dell displays, as well.
I'd go for high brightness and contrast values, with wide viewing angles, though that may not be necessary with the size of display you're considering.
