Default PDF to interactive DVD

A client has asked me about creating an interactive DVD/PDF, has anyone had any experience of do this? I can only think of creating a PDF with hyperlinks and form elements? is there any specialist software for this sort of thing or would/could you use flash/html etc any advice, tips or pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

You'd better ask them which they want, an interactive DVD or data on a DVD powered by an interactive PDF like what you'd get on a Macworld Magazine. At uni we used Director for interactive Media and Flash for animation and web, i guess that has changed now, i dunno if Adobe dumped Director or not - i'm sure there will be some software about that does it, cheap or free, i'll keep my eyes pealed.

I haven't stuck my head in a Mac Mag for years, are the pdf's auto start or do you open them yourself?

Director is used to make DVDs and DVD/CD-ROMs and you can make it auto start yourself, it doesn't matter what the program is that you want it to run, if I remember right. The auto start bit is a text file with a little bit of code in it (and I don't believe you can make discs autostart on a Mac).

so if you consider I have a Quark doc that I have PDF'd, my guess is that is would be easier to have an interactive PDF rather that recreate a Director presentation or is it just as easy to convert the PDF into something useable by Director?
