Default Graphic Design and the Developing/Third World

I am not sure this is the right place in which to post this thread, but it seems one of the most likely from what I saw as I glanced down the page. Anyway...

I'm writing about critical issues in the developing world (aka the third world) as related to graphic design. It's somewhat a vague concept, but I have to write about it nonetheless.

If anyone has any experience in this regard, as to what graphic design-type issues are critical in the developing world, and would care to share, I would be grateful. Actually, I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas, whether or not they have any experience in that regard.

I was happy to see your post but dissapointed to find that there were no other entries. I graduated with a degree in graphic design in 2007. Afterwards I volunteered in Kenya for 4 months and now the standard marketing and commercial graphic design job just doesn't appeal. I'd love to hear more from anyone on suggestions for a more meaningful application for my degree or even some side projects I could get involved with. In the mean time check out my website documenting my experience. Note: its a work in progress... 3rd World Virtues
