What style is this?

Hey everyone,

I own my own Web development company, and as part of re-branding it I am looking for a specific design for my logo, but I don't know what the name is for the type of logo I am after.

I have a specific design in my head, and it is very similar to other logos I have seen so it should be easy to name, I think, for those who know what they are talking about!

Basically, I'd like to give the designer I end up using as much information as I can, so that I know he/she understands me.

In my own words, I would describe the logo as retro meets "Web2.0", there would either be a star or a shield in the background, with the company name in the foreground, as an arc for example, or in an old style banner, I would be open to whether this would be grungy or shiny as a finish.

Is that description adequate or am I talking complete rubbish?
