You know sarah i still sometimes use photos, its not wrong
Not at all, it is how you do a good one
Before i sketchd the tiger, i spent a day in library, to study tigers frame and so on
This is maybe only way to really get a good grasp of what you draw

You see, little details around face, even though it is not realistic, it gives u good structure to work on :D

These i did not at glasgow zoo, it was in a nice zoo in cyprus on my way to Egypt, where i work for a bit now.
You may ask why not finished, but because this was only a study sketch i did for myself. To burn time as they say lol
I hate it when i dont have microsoft word to type in before i post i sond like illiterate person =D lol and my translater is broke :P haha!

You've got to have some patience all that shapes on the giraffes! I love pencil sketches, used to draw all the time but hand is moulded round a mouse these days, must try and get back into it.

Here's a couple of mine from a few years back:

I love LOVE to see peoples work you know
Thanks so much for sharing, really hope u post more here

You know, I get on webcam a lot on this one site, and sometimes have people come ask to teach them to sketch a carton or something and i do it on cam.
2 weeks ago i had Andrew Bell (an amazing artist i think) come into my room on that site because i was featured, and he too was on cam, and we had an amazing 30min of colaboration on a new character he plans to design

Again he is very down to earth and nice person.

you know you have nice skills, just don't be too heavy on ur pencil u know? like solid lines are needed, but not too much
and when u shade, do it in mabe like circular? moton, ot at least one direction lightly so to not have criss cross lines like in jacket

I only say this to point out so u become better, even though i understand this was few years ago

Thank you truly sarah! =)

Sounds like an interesting way to go about things, and good on you teaching people to sketch - can't be an easy thing to do!
Very much appreciate the comments and advice, it's something I find so relaxing but just haven't had the time lately. Here's a couple more:

yes you have very good control of sunlight its great.
Maybe later i will tell u some tips and nice tricks to get it 100% perfect sun light in image but i lkike ur style.

Like with last image, criss corss thing is only thing i would fix and maybe facial features too a bit.

I really love the image of to woman and how u capture her through the glass window, and how u gave detail to edg of each square window plain

Sarah when u shade in large area like the second one, try using underhand strokes and push lightly on led with tip of finger, ur finger will be dirty lol but it will be better resulting efect

=) i will now post more i must lol!
Great work sarah, did not think u had this skill in u! =)

Cheers Mute, I like working on the details but get a bit bored when it comes to the background of images, hence the criss-cross scribble effects!

Look forward to seeing more of your work too, do you have a portfolio site?

Sarah
