The Nike logo was designed in 1971 by Caroline Davidson, a student of the advertising department of Portland State University. This task was given to her by her teacher Phil Knight. Caroline’s started to do some freelance work for Phil’s company. Her logo design assignment earned her US$35/-

The logo design of NIKE was registered as a trade mark in 1995.

The Nike Logo design was the symbol ‘swoosh’. It was placed on the shoe, as was planned by the manufacturers and since then it has become a prominent symbol for victory.

According to Greek mythology, NIKE was the winged Goddess of Victory. As per the legend Nike’s mystical presence symbolized a winning encounter, in prehistoric battle fields.

The Nike logo “SWOOSH” created by Caroline, represents the wing of the Greek goddess of victory.

The passion and thinking behind the logo made the creator of the SWOOSH logo. A success rein of the Greek Goddess of victory still holds good. The winning power is still felt with each success gained by the players who descend in a playground field wearing Nike outfits.
