You're actually asking the wrong person that question. I've won most of my awards on my design work for nonprofits (probono) because they've given me more creative freedom. Prestigious Awards = Exposure; Exposure = New Paying Clients and New Clients = More Money. You can't argue with that.

Point taken. You say that nonprofit gives you more creative freedom but what about accessability which perhaps you have to consider more when designing for public sector? Do you think accessability restricts creativity?

I'm not really understanding what you mean by "accessibility". Could you clarify a little more?

By accessability I mean easy to read for visually impaired...font size, colour combinations, text over image that sort of thing...

Any design work should keep the public in mind as well as what kind of special circumstances are required for a specific audience but I don't think I've ever been restricted on any of my creativity at all because of work being pro-bono versus paid. The guidelines should pretty much be the same.

I never meant to start what this has become. I will most defintl volunteer my time if it is something i know does good for the community or so on and so forth. But for Sh**s and giggles i have another example. For those that think you should not volunteer....

My boss recently donate 3 banners to race for the cure in order to get orders from some of the sponsors as well as the Foundation at a later date. So that brings to light the "you have to spend money to make money"
"Does art have to have a reason for its existence or content?"
