Default Getting Freelance Design Work

Hello to all of you freelancers

I am based in London and I've been freelancing for the last year or so. I am trying to put myself more forward and if anyone could give me some advice on getting some freelance work. It is often by word of mouth but I was wondering how does anyone find freelance work etc.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Our company started with me and my spouse as freelancers working full-time jobs. We eventually got the majority of our clients by word of mouth. I agree with the saying above too, "Better to regret something you have done, rather than something you didn't do....." Powerful words.

Pro Bono work and becoming part of groups (not online) help a lot. You have to show your face.

doing some 'free' stuff for charities has helped me tons. go to your local social services and ask if they need any help.

ive been designing for my local social services for about 9 years now. at first i worked for free.. but now i am paid full price! (leaflets / banners / logos etc..)

plus also other companies had asked social services who they used and now I freelance for De Montfort Uni and the County Council! (purely through word of mouth).

charity work = good karma!!
