Default Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and Mac OSX Leopard

I have been using Adobe's CS2 Photoshop and Illustrator for a couple of years on Windows XP. I've never had any problems with these programs.

A week ago I got my first Mac. It's a 20 inch iMac; I upgraded the RAM to 4GB, and I thought I'd purchase one of the Creative Suite packages for it. I would like to have the Web Designer Basic package, and if I use my son's status as a student, I can get it for pretty cheap. Regardless of price, after browsing their user forum, the posts made it look like CS3 programs were a horrible batch of products to use on Mac OSX Leopard. All kinds of crashing and installation issues were noted, and there was a general sense of frustration and hatred in the posts.

So, I thought I'd come here and see if anyone is using CS3 programs with Leopard successfully. I don't need the programs so bad that I would be willing to spend the money if they won't work well. Also, the Adobe user group may only have the only people complaining... but I'd like more feedback before spending the money.

I use it very sucessfully. What people didn't listen to when Leopard was released was you have to do a clean install, DON'T TRY AND UPGRADE from tiger or panther.

DO NOT use unvalid fonts, they WILL crash adobe programs which means if you're the sort of person who doesn't buy fonts and downloads them all from free font sites your version of In-Design will fall out with you very fast.

I think it's good as it will refinance the font industry and higher the quality much in the same way as LSD refinanced the record industry back in the 70's. By the way kids don't just say no!

Well, as my iMac is brand new, I don't have to worry about the O/S upgrade issue. The fonts issue is interesting. I haven't added any fonts to this machine, and so I'm thinking I should be fine. Do you have the stand alone versions of the programs, or one of the packages? Do you think it matters?

I have the package but it makes no difference they all run independently. If you use font book it will tell you if the font is going to cause an issue or not, most people choose to ignore this, that's their fault and often the problem

Sounds good, Toon.

Anyone else have anything to say?
