I've always found it bizarre that companies hide costs like this and employees are banned form talking about it. Normally only because then the monkey's could demand the same as people higher up and so forth..

anyway... I currently work on a hourly rate of £20/25, so quote based on the hours I reckon the job will take, plus 2 sets of amends. The more used you get to how long stuff takes, the more accurate you can be... Amends and stuff over that are charged hourly again above any quote, which encourages clients to make all the changes in one go, rather than have work go back and forth too often. I then charge extra for any additional costs, such as stock artwork or a font. Normally, such as with a font, the client would be warned.

Some jobs vary from this basic model, such as some brand work, where a higher end of creative and forethought is put in, which the hourly rate does not reflect..
