One Summer: Thank you for the reply. Again, I wish to commend you for your action. And I trust enough that should a similar situation arise in the future I would contact you directly vs. posting for opinions as I hope others, as well as yourself, would contact me as well should they feel my design encroaches upon his/hers.

I would like to clarify that I do not imply having rights to a house on a map. As you can see, there are other entries that try to depict that concept without being similar.

And, as you can also see, there is another concept that is pretty much the same as my own which came in after yours in which the designer has decided to keep in the contest. Whether it's better or not, is subjective, however, I feel it's a modified version of my concept:

I am guilty of having done the samething, not knowing, and have had no problem withdrawing once I have been made aware. In addition, there have times that I am in the process of uploading an entry when I realize that there is one that is pretty much the same concept, at which time I refrain from uploading it.

To wrap it up, as this is also getting long winded, I really think it boils down to good ethics.....and I believe you have exhibited such character.

I didn't enter for that exact reason I hate a non designer telling me how to design. Following the guys instructions isn't my type of creative expression to be honest I'm not surprised he doesn't end up with a comp full of logos that all look the same.

Same here Toon. And also the same reason for not doing the RedBrick one either.

OMG!!!!! The RedBrick one is nearly identical. And yes Onesummer, that is the same guy that copied Toon's Bridges logo. I pointed it out somewhere here in the forum. He also copied someone's frog too. I don't think he knows how to think for himself.

So pleased that other people are seeing this guy for what he really is. I was the designer of the first Redbrick logo and when he submitted his, I just couldn't believe the damn cheek so I said how I felt (as you can see in the comments under the logo).

I then received this email from him this morning:

you stole it from another redbrick logo, i noticed what i did afterwards too and then i saw this comment and noticed yours as well. looks like its a lose lose situation for both of us... its some RedBrick logo from another website...****** eh.. great minds think alike maybe

I saw red this morning and responded with this:

Excuse me, I NEVER steal ANYONE'S designs, that's why I have spent 22 years being a successful graphic designer. Your design may well be an innocent submission but the fact of the matter is, it's a virtual replica of what I did - YES, it may be a case of great minds think alike. Had your design been submitted within an hour or two from mine being uploaded, I'd have given you the benefit of the doubt. Without sounding conceited, I KNOW full well that I have plenty of imagination and despise being accused of stealing other people's work. That's not only cheating on someone else, it's cheating on yourself.

I hope I don't offend by saying that I think this guy is a total cock and the fact that he's done the same to others really ****es me off.

I hope the fact that I said I was a successful designer doesn't make me sound conceited, it's just that I have no time for people who can't think for themselves.

People like that deserve to be outed it's unfair

its surely common practice to look at what the competition are entering before you design/upload your own logos and you avoid what other people have already done! ive just entered a comp and a design very similar to my initial idea has already been entered so ive thought a bit harder and come up with another solution. its what its all about! finding your own solution to a problem!

I did make a similar mistake with a submission of mine when I first signed up to the website. I hadn't looked through the submissions and ended up submitting something very similar to someone else. Ever since then though, I make damn sure that I'm not copying anyone's designs, regardless of the fact that great minds do think alike at times.
