[xpressions]

Everyone is entitled to their opinions on which one is best. That's appreciated and respected.

I just read the comment made by the author of the other entry. And I replied in a personal email. I am not asking to have it removed. That's a call I believe the designer should make. But, I believe there are different concepts that can still be put forth in that contest that will capture what the client is looking for without ultimately all the designs looking the same, imho.

Just an update: The designer did indeed remove the entry. I give kudos to him for reaching that decision on his own and has gained my respects for demonstrating good ethics.

Ok, I don't mean to be over zealous, but, how about this one now?

Is this commonplace at logosauce?

so yeah, I was the guy who had posted the logo that was so similar to xpressions' originally, and yes I did remove it. I definite agree they were very similar, too similar to keep mine in the race. However, I would like to note that the competition holder was pretty specific about wanting the logo to directly portray "property on a map". Quotes: "The product is plotting little 3D houses on a live map." And his product usings Google Maps, which is what my original entry was based off of. In no way was I copying xpressions. Other than blatantly showing houses on a google-like map, I dont think there's too many ways to show property on a map like the CH wanted. Look at the entries and see for yourself; other than creating a google-like map and putting the typical house logo on top, there's not much else one can do.

At this point, unless xpressions is chosen, I would not be surprised if the CH does not choose a "real" winner, since xpressions is the only one that comes remotely close to what the CH wanted; any other designs that would have come close will be labeled as copies or stealings of his. I just don't think using a map and houses on top is an original enough concept to call your own when the product to be promoted is exactly that, property (houses) on a map.

hrmm..I think I made this post way longer than it had to be by repeating myself over and over with slightly different words ;)

anyway, I do hope you win though xpressions. if he picks a winner, yours is the only one that makes sense.

I didn't enter for that exact reason I hate a non designer telling me how to design. Following the guys instructions isn't my type of creative expression to be honest I'm not surprised he doesn't end up with a comp full of logos that all look the same.
