Carla, thank you, but the link didn't work for me.

For me, it boils down mostly to ethics and integretity. I know it's hard to come up with new ideas. But, if you create something and somebody right afterwards modifies it, I think it's hard to swallow. Some concepts come easily while other take alot out of me just to have someone lurking and then riding on the coattails with no regards to respecting intellectual property. And this seems to be a trend as I continue to see more and more of this type of behaviour.

As for blatant rips, I have had that done as well......a good cease and desist letter has taken care of it for me so far. Just waiting for the one that will not comply so I can test the next steps.

I think your logo portfolio is so strong that whoever rips you off will never be you so I wouldn't let it get you down too much.

Agreed, there's some strong logo's in there mate. But what about Fastrak Bail Bonds > Puma?

I'm not posting these because you've robbed the idea, just illustrating how hard it is to do something never done before.

Busted! LOL.

No, seriously, I entered that logo into a contest over at gfxcontests. A very kind fellow designer pointed out PUMA and of course, I agreed and pulled the logo from the contest, I forgot to pull it off my portfolio, which I completely forgot to do...which I should do asap. But this was not an intentional act.

So, yes, we may all have those moments, but what we do after it's been noted that it's similar or almost the same is what counts.

Thank you for the vote. I have to have serious discussions now with PUMA!

I look at other logos for inspiration but I've never blatantly stolen a logo design. I did do my "Tree of Life" logo (on LogoSauce) and another jealous designer said to me, "I've seen that exact art somewhere before." Now this was a blatant lie because my husband and others can tell anyone that I sat down in front of the telly, blank paper and pencil, and totally sketched it out detail for detail. I still have my original art.

Now on another note, I did a logo for a client in 1999 and it was published on the client's CD (it's their record label logo). But in 2004 another designer used my design verbatim for a nonprofit Cancer Research hospital. The problem is being a nonprofit client...it will look really bad when or if this goes to court. I have a contact who is trying to let that client know and see if they'll hire us to design an 'original' logo for them. The client we designed the logo for is a billionaire.

I'd actually like to have your opinion on whether you consider it plagiarism. Here is the link to the logo (that copies mine …and they are both located in Las Vegas). Keep in mind that both are "N's" that are done in nearly identical fonts, and put in a circle.

Cwilk,

IMHO: I see they share similar common elements, but, I think they are different enough that I personally would not consider it plagiarism, though yours is far better and I think they are missing the mark with theirs.
