cwilk, I'm sure Mack was referring to me (as far as the "bagging them" comment goes)

Mack, I'm all for people coming on the forum and asking questions like "hey, does anyone know if it is okay to use stock art in a logo?" as such license agreements can be hard to understand.

But if you jump the gun before doing your "homework" and you knowingly use someone else's work in a logo, then you're just not using common sense. And using the excuse "oh I'm new at this" is not going to help you out if the client chooses your logo and the original artist of the work you used comes a'knockin' with a lawsuit. Of course, I'm sure I'm exaggerating my point when it involves such stuff as logosauce contests, but still, it could happen. All the contests do typically state if you are chosen as the winner you relinquish all ownership and rights to the artwork, so how can one knowingly use someone else's work as their own and then think they have the legal ability to then give that ownership to another?

I do apologize all, including to viggosmor, I promise I do not mean to single you out.

Ignorance just makes me mad sometimes. Keep in mind I live in America where many Americans see laziness and ignorance as a way of life. It's sad, really.

Sorry to vent in this forum!

ya i was speaking to you, but more so in "general" seeing comments around the board and on LS. Its easy to be intimidated, and easy to not understand all of the rules. I just want to make sure we point out what was wrong, and how to do it correctly. always constructive! ;)

Funny when you first see it .. but then you see the comment ...

Hi, there. It’s a nice attempt but maybe the wrong symbol for food ingredients company. The symbol represents “[bio]hazard”....

LMAO ... for a FOOD company!!

Thanks for pointing me towards this site - I'd never seen it before and I've been having fun all day!

It's the designer's equivalent of Hot or Not.

it wasn't the winner, but it was the rinke design that got the highest rating out of them on logosauce...

I still say LS needs a "premium" site that screens designers before allowing them to enter contests. If I had the time and resources, I'd so make my own contest site that screens.
