Is this license info from iStock? If it is, then no one can actually resell the art as part of a logo. Notice how it says "...uses of Content in items". That verbiage basically covers the use rights of the art on the items for resale listed in the quantity shown, not actually owning the art as part of a logo. A logo is not considered a tangible printed item.

When you've paid for that art, you can have it printed on these listed items for resale and you can only sell only up to a certain amount. So legally it would outside of their licensing for anyone to sell the copyrights with the art incorporated into a company logo, because it's not being resold as part of one of the items listed (and a logo is not considered an item). I hope that makes sense.

This is why I stay away from using clipart unless the client specifically requests it.

Unfortunately I don't think that some artists understand use rights when they purchase clipart...and it can come back to bite.

Cwilk, good points. we can only wish that these self-called "designers" start properly educating themselves about the industry before taking on such a title.

That was copied from istock, i did notice that they were stating "content" and also they said "including" the below items. I think for someone reading that, "uses of the Content in items for resale" would think its ok to use it in the case stated in this thread.

In this forum, where majority of regular posters are uncommonly friendly the ones that do claim to be "designers" should take it upon themselves to help others members of them forum be better informed, rather then bagging them.

tbh i had no idea the artist was a member of gdf until she posted in this thread but still, she entered a competition using what was partly essentially someone elses work which doesn't strike me as entirely good practice, although i have to admit i'm a bit of a n00b myself as well.

I'm more than happy to inform without being a ....rhymes with 'witch'. I'm pretty sure that I'm one of the older female designers here on the GDF with just about 20 years of design experience. So I try to mentor and not bag. : )
