Okay....so I don't really have the time, but I've been looking at logos on Logosauce in the competitions.
It seems that our ghostly voters, with no portfolio, are still popping up out of nowhere and giving glowing remarks. While I know most clients will know better, and will pick what they want (not a logo that someone else is telling them to choose), it really hurts a client who doesn't know any better.
I'm not one to be negative, but I did leave a somewhat negative comment about the Colt logo that is in the lead. Seems all the comments hail from Mexico or LA. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.
I'm not saying that it's an awful logo, but there are better ones on there. ....I actually do think the gun end looks like a gas pump.
And no....I don't have any logos in any current competitions (that I can remember).
Well, that's my rant for the day. : ) Back to my deadline(s). :nann:
The quality is really going downhill.
Aye, I really like Davidoff's one (currently third), but there are some real shockers in there too
I like Davidoff's too. I believe that's my favorite. Having a gun in the logo at all is actually quite shocking.
Apart from guns in logos being in really bad taste; the brief states that:
"Our graphic logo was brainstormed to be a revolver, since our store name COLT is also the brand name of the original revolver. Also,we have thought of a slogan around the revolver which is ‘Get Fired Up!’.It’s like getting your health fired up,which is essentially the nature of our business."
What??? Isn't Colt (the gun manufacturer) a brand name / trademark anyway? So you can't really just go around linking your company with it! Not to mention the fact that this is meant to be for a health food company... Guns are probably the last thing you would link to good health... so the whole idea is just asolutely stupid!

You'd at least think leaf style logo!health food company
Trademarks > Trademark Electronic Search System(Tess) > Colt
If you check out the LOC, Colt is also a registered pesticide company. : )
I read it wrong, it seems to be health and sports supplements - but the principle is the same! I'd be interested to see how their business pans out![]()
What's interesting too is that the company that makes the Colt gun probably still holds the copyright and could sue if this other company incorporates a gun at all in it. Even though the companies would be different the logos would still be too similar.
No-one told me I had an extra big post on one of my logos...
