Default Clients left me in a tangle

Ok, I designed a flyer for a guy originally for free on the terms that I would receive more work from him every month. He seem legit and so I went ahead and designed it front and back with my email address on the back.

When I showed him he said he would actually pay me around £25 for the design and would send me a cheque once they had been printed so I cad have a few hard copies....I, sadly, was happy with this!

I now have no contact with him, no phone number and he is not replying to my emails...what should I do?

Should I let it go and just use the flyers in my portfolio or is it possible for me to send him an emailing stating that if he does chose to print the flyers he must pay me £25 if I can prove that he has used and printed my design??

I could really do with some help and quickly!!

Thanks in advance,

Phil Johns

Oh, and anyone near and around Newcastle...look out for these:

Follow the pro's

Help Needed!

Stop doing things for free as you will get screwed over time and again and you will de-value the profession, get them to sign a contract then you've got something to take to a lawyer. This happens way to often.

What Toon said.

Oh, and remember the mantra:
CHEAP - FAST - QUALITY . . . . . . .Pick two.

I like that!

A similar thing happened to someone else on here very recently, and after giving it a couple more days the client got back to him... How long have you been waiting on this?

Well Im not sure if your familiar with msn messenger...He was apppearing offline on my personal account and online on my work account....I assume hes blocked me, Ive given my mobile number to him several times and he said he'd text me his number but nothing...

When you say get them to sign a contract would I have to send this contract by posy or is there a way to do this digitally?

i really don't see why he is avoiding paying £25. If he isn't using it and he thinks he shouldn't have to pay because of that then why doesn't he just tell you? some people are just weird

1 of my college lecturers back in 1st year told us a statistic which i thought would surely be untrue, that 1/3 of the clients you work for will try to get out of paying you if they can.
I'd believe it now.
