i had one client ask me to do a logo redesign for him. he gave me several ideas and a few pages of notes and asked for a few roughs. i asked him to sign a contract before i ever put pen to paper. it's been two years since then, i call for a check up on the project every few months just to see if he is still interested. he says that he is still thinking about it and that he will get back to me once he has really decided he wants the new logo. i still have not put pen to paper on that project.

i am quite certain that he would have tried to steal the design or get out of paying the full amount in some way. avoid clients like this when possible.

This does happen far too often. It's unfortunate, but sadly true.
In the future, you should use an Art Approval Sheet, which acts as a binding document between provider and client. You can actually download a pdf of the sheet here: http://www.sessions.edu/career_cente...oval_sheet.pdf

Hope this helps!
All the best!
