Contract advice for new business - Graphic Design Forum and Web Design Forum

Hi guys, little bit confused about the whole contract situation in business. Obviously as a freelancer you would be expected to draw up contracts with agreements for every client you work with, does this also apply when you are running a business. Not sure if this sounds like a silly question or not. Any advice?

If we do a project for a new client, we always do a contract. If the client has been with us for a while but suddenly a project in the thousands comes up, definitely need a contract. Little projects for on-going clients we don't do contracts for. Pretty much quote them in an email and the scope and you should be good, but not for new clients.
