Default Freelance Hourly Rate Query

Hi guys,

I know this question comes up loads but I'm just about to take on freelance work for a design agency in Central Scotland and was wondering if £17p/h is a decent rate to charge?

I have 7 years agency experience in web and print design, and I'm leaving full time work in two weeks to work on a 8 month contract and also some freelance work. For the freelance work I'm trying to gauge a suitable hourly rate for my experience and location without underselling myself or chasing off potential work.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks loads,

Rach.

Sounds fair but many people vary their rates depending on what they are designing

Before I worked only in my company, I was making $20.00 p/h (USA) when I was the AD for a publishing company. That was in the late 90s.

I found the calculation used on BlueFlavor's website was a very good resource!
