I saw this from the "smashing" flap. I wrote some quite different, but also using AIDA applied to design.
Anyway, the point of what I wrote is designers are stuck on the "A," attention.
The real trick is getting from one stage to the next in the formula. This is s specific weakness of most (not all) web design due to 1) The separation of structure, layout and content taken to a ludicrous extreme 2) The gravitational pull of the very most superficial decoration
Splash pages. Most flash. All A, no IDA. The web sites come across as a sugared-up 3-year-old screaming "look at me."

Check the forum often for the latest design announcements. Everything from graphic design and web design, to films and music. Estetica is a great place for people to get together and help each other out.
