Default Keeping in touch with clients

Hi all -- I don't have much of a career in Graphic Design but I *do* do a lot of freelancing, which probably possesses a similar workflow to what you experience. Professionally, I'm curious -- how do you allow your clients to communicate with you?

I've used a lot of different tools -- FTP workspaces, Project management software, good old voicemail, email, and even a little bit of google chat. At the moment I'm working on a project with a remote team that is spread out all over the country, and we're trying to devise a good way to appear like a "united front" to clients (so far the manager has been the point-of-contact on email, but it gets hairier with phone). Any thoughts?

In that case, it might be a good idea to appoint one person to deal with all front-line communication, almost 'representing' the business, and they can forward any/all relevant information to everyone else.
That way the client doesn't have a number of people contacting them from various sources....

Yeah, that's a good idea, more or less what I've suggested. I'm trying to get the team to invest in a gotvmail.com or other such virtual pbx line to act as a voicemail box for the "company" (would also give us an 800 and extensions, etc, which would be a lot easier). But in the meantime one person could take the lead and funnel all pertinent info, that would work. Thanks!
