So here's the thing - some colleagues and I are having a disagreement about double-sided business cards and I was hoping to get some thoughts.
The arguments are this: 1. "double sided business cards are more 'creative' and therefore will reflect the creative side of the company" 2. "double sided business cards are kitschy and can have a small company feel." Whereas I feel that they can be used to show creative elements of the company, I also feel that being 'creative for the sake of creativity' can give off the wrong vibe as well.... Any takers? FBG |

Defo 1, there's alot more you can do with double sided ones.

You can't do any kind of folding with one sided print! Any fold needs a second side

I can feel this going down the American Psycho route but a simple design and a top quality paper stock can show class and confidence, in not needing to go with all the bells and whistles. It can also look cheap and boring hence where the creativity comes in, get it right and it can look just as impressive as a 10 colour, die cut, foil blocked plastic business card with rounded corners...

All valid. Thanks for the input - I get accused of being too 'corporate' with my stance on cards, but my thought is that they should be a subtle window to the company (agency in this case) and should leave the perspective contact intrigued enough to want to find out more...Personally I get a bit turned off by cards with too much flash and bang, as it seems to me that the person is trying to convince me of their creativity.
The other side argues that we should be an example to our clients illustrating what is possible, but I'm still not sure I buy it... Last edited by fatboyStGeorge; 11-06-2008 at 06:23 PM. |
