Default website Rips

Hiya Guys,

This is my first post and really wanted to let everyone no about "spur marks" are us companies who rip off other companies websites.

My website is Website Design in Bedford | Bedfordshire Website Design | Cow & Monkey | Home Page

I got an email from a couple of people yesterday saying they have seen a site that looks like a really bad version of mine.

Fab Spider™ Everything Web - Home

Why do designers do this???

I understand we all get stuck for inspiration and look on CSS gallery sites for motivation, inspiration and like me damm right "geekyness" but dont clone other people work and IF YOU MUST. do a half decent job!!

Feel a bit better now I have showed someone fabspider AKA "spur marks R us"

You have a right to feel ****** off! Given that 'fab spider' have a UK address, might even be worth £50 to get a lawyer to send them a 'cease and desist'?

Great design though. I understand why people might be tempted to copy.

As an alternative to the 'cease and desist' from a lawyer, you could send them an invoice for royalties at whatever rate your Terms and Conditions indicate for re-use of your designs.

Or a really aggressive approach: get your lawyer to demand a schedule of all the contracts they have won since starting to use your design, and demand a % of all sales on the basis that your design contributed to them appearing competent designers and winning the work.

that's an apauling rip of your design. when people do this i don't understand why they make it even more obvious by using the same colours. just shows how dumb they are.

Hmm, not that I'm an expert or anything, but as far as I can see it's not actually a 'rip'. Yes I agree it does look similar, but all the source code, and imagery (except the banner image) seem to be different? To be perfectly honest if someone had drew inspiration from my work I'd be pretty thrilled about it!

As I was browsing around the usual CSS showcase sites, I came across this: A creative flair for producing clean, elegant and dynamic solutions for the web of today - trevorsaint.com (Which looks a lot like CSS Artillery, another 'rip'?)

Which correct me if I'm wrong is your site?

So infact you're a designer that draws inspiration from all the CSS sites, yet has another web design firm to create your portfolio, and some of the work in it(Be Healthy)?

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents...

hmmph.. thats messed up.

Nice Design, but since you're giving away that design, maybe I should add it to my "Free Templates" section.

thanks for the heads up. You should stick around here, nice forum. You look like you fit right in.

I really like your design, but that is a shameful rip off. If anything, get a lawyer (or a mate who is one) to write a letter regarding it.
