Default Virgin Media

You'll love this, last week some time I got my first bill from Virgin Media that used to be telewest and I was pondering to upgrade my 2 meg internet to the 4 meg. The internet had started to run really slow and things were timing out alot. So I rang up to complain. I got some young call centre worker who said I want to test your connection, 'can you please open internet explorer'. So I laughed my head off and asked to speak to someone that knows what they're talking about.
I ran various speed tests and were getting bad results. After a few drinks to calm down one on of the engineers rung me back and told me that online speed tests are not reliable. Got more mad and quite abussive and the guy told me I should upgrade and see if it improved.

They gave me the whole wait 10 mins reset your connection etc. and you'll have to pay the extra upfront. It hasn't been working now for the last few days. I get a stable connection for a while then it times out etc. I was too mad to ring them so kira said she would but first we wanted to check all our cables.

Turns out the actual cable inlet to the house wasn't even plugged in!!!

How the hell we were getting a connection at all is beond me, there must have been some amount of contact between the points to get a small signal.

Anyway bought kira an 'I'm with stupid T-shirt' and glad I didn't try changing ISP imagine if the guy from BT or Sky came to fit it and noticed it wasn't even plugged in. Gotta laugh!!!

(Haven't you?)

Aaaahhh...

Quote:
Pity the poor Virgin Media customer, caught in the middle of a war of words between Virgin and BSkyB.

The deadline has passed and three million homes no longer have access to Sky's basic channels, including Sky One - which shows high-value series such as 24, Lost and Nip/Tuck - and Sky News.

Both sides continue to blame the other.

Sky was first to issue a statement, shortly after midnight, saying: "Virgin Media has withdrawn Sky's basic channels from its television customers following the expiry of the agreement between the two companies."

"We're disappointed that we will now be denied access to cable TV homes," said a spokesman.

"We've made repeated efforts to reach an agreement but Virgin Media has rejected all of our proposals - including our latest offer of just 3p per customer per day."

The headline on Virgin's statement said the exact opposite: "Sky rejects all Virgin Media efforts to find a solution and withdraws its basic channels.

Virgin is quality! - we got sick of AOL kicking us off all the time, so a quick trip to Compare broadband providers and cheap broadband internet deals - moneysupermarket.com and we found Virgin would be better for us.

Feels good not having to wait ages to get your ftp uploads done now - and we get great telly also XD
