need help

hey guys,

i have just been asked by a clietn to create them a website to showcase their used cars.

They want it to be done similar to this:

www.redlinecars.ie

How would i do this? as i do not have a notion

PHP and a database with some form of content management so they can add and remove cars from the list themselves.

other than that the page looks really simple and easy to mimic. i would advise a diffrent design that is a little more appealing to look at. this guy is the most successful dealer in my area. perhaps you could get an idea from his site. he doesn't really have a great design either but i guess it works for him.

Thats why. Dealing with a dealerships vehicle inventory is not an easy task. Dealers have whats called a "DMS" which hold all the vehicle information. You would need to build a content management system that can not only pull from this DMS, but also serve up the content. Now, even if the dealership does not have a DMS, and they want to enter all of the content manually ( i doubt) youll need to build a CMS to do so, then youll need to build a UI to filter out the data to serve up what the user is selecting.

Its an a tremendous amount of work, as there are several companies who's sole purpose is to handle and serve up dealer inventory.

I think it may be to far over your head.

or... i could be wrong.

It's more than a tutorial will teach you. I wouldn't take on something like that, it's too much to go at for a one off.

it's a big task even for a design team.
not that it can't be done.

jobs like this take a LOT of fore thought and pre-planning. more work than you will be paid for you can be sure.
