Banner Advice?

Hello,

My web knowledge is basically based out of the ninetees when I was a nerd making webpages for the roleplaying games I played. So, its rather outdated.

Question: Is it still practical to do banner advertising?

I see services that you pay $50 for a month (and I don't mind the price) to give you banner exposure to something like 500,000 impressions a month. (Going by memory).

I also saw in my spam mail that people are developing a "banner blindness" and have trained themselves to look past them. So I'm left wondering if this is a good investment for advertising or not.

If its good, you guys got any advice on who to go through?

Works fine as long as people are interested in the banners, no good advertising cook books on pet forum.
