Default Office or no office..

Hi all....

Just curious about those that work as freelance designers or in the least not actually in 1 company.... do you work from home? or have you got office space, desk space in someone elses office etc etc.

Reason i ask, is im really considering moving into actual offices, i just think that im at a point where i need to move one step nearer feeling more professional so to speak and i see office space, with a proper address, seperate land line and so on as the right way forward. Only down side is using money on it, however im sure i will be much more productive from an office rather than the converted one i currently have at home...

Anyone any thoughts or experience with this?

B.

PS>Toon move this if it should be in a different category... wasnt sure

I would say if you can afford it it's a deffo, for many different reasons, always nice to have an office if clients visit you, also like you've touched on it can make you feel more professional and sometimes a little more focussed and it's good to seperate your home life and work life there's a more defined cut-off point.

Hope I make sence and it helps. I think more people would if they could afford it

I'd love to work from home, of course. I think everyone would like that. Sometimes, it's just not possible so we follow the easiest way.

I work from home and LOVE IT! Even though I work crazy hours I like how I can turn the TV on and chill out for a few if I wanted to.

:)

Hey flash.. well if you can afford it.. thats the question. Working from home sounds great to everyone, but with kids and all, it's not as easy as one might expect. IF you work from home you have to have a seperate space and the rule has to be "as long as I'm in this space..."
The office space will provide you with more dedicated time and perhaps more normal hours. You might look into shared office space with someone in your field, say find a dedicated application builder looking into breaking out and getting started. Share receptionist, utilities, etc. It's kind of like having a room mate, only for work. Thats a great way to pull it off, if you can find it...
Hope that helps, man.. good luck. Let me know what you decide to do.

I've been working from home for 5 years now, you can't beat it.
You just need to maintain structure in your day, especially when work's busy..........when it's not, well you can head to the beach. :-)
