I've found one of the best ways to stop most spambots is to lock the first thread it catches about 5 a day. It just errors and they can't back out once they've reach the error page.

A few weeks ago I actually saw an online add wanting a spam bot progrmmer $89,000 a year, I'm in the wrong business!
