Default Web designer life?

I was wondering...could a web designer have enough money to buy a big house, have a car and live without worrying about the money?
There are many designers out there, lately this 'job' is very-well paid, and it's pretty nice to get good money on something you really like to do.But. Are you going to afford taking care of a family without worries?

Depends how good you are, experience is a must, knowing as many different programming languages (even if you only want to do front end stuff) can help, learn as many design aspects as possible fonts and colours aren't always enough to make you stand out and most importantly pimp yourself. If you're an unknown amongst an internet where everyone with a computer thinks they're a web design, what makes you stand out.
Make some waves and get known the offers always come but most importantly be patient and always make sure you're moving forward and not stuck on a certain discipline because you're good at it and it what you're used to.

That's pretty tight. Thanks Toon.
I was thinking that web design may not be enough in most cases, maybe digital art could help a lot, prints and illustrations could be a good business.
