Default Web 3.0

ALA posted an article some time ago about future of internet, this included the known web 3.0 trend.
A List Apart: Articles: Web 3.0
Considering we're in the web 2.0 era, we should know what that means. There are many articles about that, nowadays information is everywhere, and the quantity is immense.
What do you think about the 3.0 trend? When could it be released...discuss.

Web 3.0 was released. Slapping a new, bigger, number in front of something is shorthand for hype. As there is no shortage of mildly buzzworthy microfads, you'll see 4,5,6 and 7 -- each trying to proclaim themselves the next big thing.

Entrepreneurs See a Web Guided by Common Sense is an article about Web 3.0 -- although I wouldn't count on common sense showing up 'til version sixteen.

SXSW Panel: Web 2.0 to Web 3D [part 1] if you had to pick the lamest, overused and repeatedly-failed concept in computing what would it be? With failures from magic cap to Microsoft Bob and much more, that concept is 3D. If that's the future, then we replace lame spinning logos with lame spinning product views.

Why? For the one reason people with too much time on their hands do anything -- because they can.

The real next-stage web will start when slapping a number in front of words like web, business, and so on is recognized for what it is: A particularly unimaginative and lazy kind of hype wrapped in cliches.

I kinda agree with some parts, business will be different indeed. There are so damn many people with too much free time, but we can't really say about they can or can't do. That depends from case to case. Anyway, web 3.0 should be a revolutionary trend.

@Toon: Do you realise inner shadows would kill us all? ZOMG

The Internet will never be Guided by Common Sense. Its the Internet. Rampant JackAssery is what made the web what it is.
