Uploading images?

Hi All

I am putting together a list of features for our website and I have a question

Our clients need to be able to send us images for us to process.

I dont want to use e-mail and I don't really want to use an off site solution like dropload.

I would like to have a browse button and an upload button on the site so clients can search their computer for the file and then upload it to our website.

I then need to receive an e-mail to let me know there is an image waiting.

Then I need to be able to put the image back up on the server after we have finished with it and an e-mail is sent to the client to inform them that the finished file is ready for retrieval.

There could be a download button in that e-mail

What is the best way of achieving this

I may be able to help you. I did this for a client once. You may view the form here : http://www.impex5.com/request.html

It's basically an HTML form with a file upload addon. The client completes the necesary fields (name, company etc), uploads the file from his computer and a PHP script processes the information and sends the email (with attachment) to a given email address.

Of course you need to tweak it a bit to suit your needs.

I will check out the tutorial on your site to see if I can make head or tail of it and I will let you know

It is a very long time since I did any web design at all so \I am finding it all a very steep learning curve

I could just get a web designer to do it all at a cost but I like to understand what is going on behind the scenes and be able to tweek stuff

Most of the rival websites just use e-mail to send files but I want a more elegant and simple solution. Like dropload.com but built into the website

I had a look at the example you posted http://www.impex5.com/request.html and this is exactly what I need except I only need the browse and the upload/submit bit.
