hotel/resort booking system

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a hotel booking system, now there seem to be plenty out there but I am always interested in hearing people experience/recomendations

It'll be the basic functions: customer can view availability, make booking, get confirmation, and then hotel recieve details of that booking. (I have seen one somewhere which inc a fill customer database system too)

anyways, any thoughts, experiences or recomendations would be much appreciated

It would be pretty easy to implement using a custom system, however, if you do decide to get an 'off the shelf' product then one thing that I would certainly look at is the ability to integrate it with the hotel's current booking system or the ability to use the web system as the hotel's main booking system otherwise you may end up with a scenerio whereby somebody books a room when there are none available.
Another thing to look for would be a flexible pricing structure, i.e., the ability to program in group discounts, off season rates etc; you may also need to be able to offer customers a choice of room type, i.e., sea view, penthouse etc.

Where possible I'd always go for a custom solution with something like this.
