no one?
Hi all, I am new to web design and just finished a 4 month intensive course.
One of my clients asked me if this is possible...I know it is but here we go. Keep in mind this is NOT a adult site lol.
He wants me to create a site, with mainly just videos.
A few videos will be "free" but then he wants to have premium video's that a member has to pay a monthy (or annual) fee to be able to view them.
What I was thinking is have no membership for the free videos but to view the "premium" videos a member has to register which costs a fee (lets say 1 month, 3, month, 6 months, 1 year) sort of thing.
But I have no idea how to create a site like this??? Im sure there is software/CMS program out there which has this built in or an addon but not sure, so that's why im here to ask what my options are!
Thanks in advance,
Matt

If as you say, you are undertaking this site for a client, then more fool you. If your only ability comes from a short 'intensive' course then what made you think that you would have the expertise to take on a project like this? If they have given you any money up front then give it back immediately. Go and see them in person and apologise profusely and hope to hell they don't sue you. Freelance web design is a business. It's not a game!
no i have not taken any money, i have done previous work for them which they were pleased with. he just tossed out this idea to me and I said yes it is possible but I dont feel comfortable doing it at the moment, but I will try to research it for you.
so dont get to snippy please.
My point still stands. You don't have the expertise to carry out a project like this and website application development is not just a case of bolting bits on to static HTML designs. Nor is it a case of finding 'The right script' as some people seem to think. There is significantly more to it than that. The most helpful thing you can do for your client is tell them you can't do it.
I have to agree with Arkady; it does sound like it is totally beyond your remit, and although its nice to have a challenge or something new, I wouldn't spend a clients time/money doing it.
I would try and recommend to the client that they need an experienced developer/programmer for this particular project.
Thanks guys, I passed and I believe I got screwed out of some money on the previous work I did for this guy, as the check has been in the mail for 3 weeks and I keep getting BS excuses.
i'am agree with blueocto and arkalady..!not to make you down man..but i think the one who should work your project must be someone that expert in your project this time..
my advice is if you insist to work this project then you have to accompany by someone who expert so your job can be done perfect without the client complaining on you right...
?but that's just my advice ok..
thanx...
