Default Will Shadows Ever Die

Here is a perfectly well built site that's seems to be coded correctly. I quite like the way the wood effects draws you into the main content (may not be to everyones taste).

Has nice tool tips and layed out well. But why o why is that grad on the main header it does nothing but make the site at first glance look cheap.

Don't get me wrong I use them if a title is slightly boring but on this site it just seems to take away from the rest of what has been done correctly. Shame.

Refecty gradients are the same as drop shadows were a decade ago. I think the color scheme, the modern sans logotype, graphic elements inside the cow silhouette are all a mismatch when framed by the wood background.

If you want to see what I consider the rustic style, done correctly, check out the Banjo Minnow site. The other site gives me the impression of the balding middle-aged guy with the rear facing baseball cap. I have nothing against the wood element. However the mismatch of one rustic element with the other, wholly modern ones isn't even kitsch -- just off-putting.

that reflective thing is way too over used. Apple started to kill it, and since everything in iTunes does it, it should really be avoided at all costs or it just looks lazy and out dated...

I agree that this effect can and is over used and is a fad. However it is not offensive on the site in queston. It does however annoyingly draw the eye to it. Although this may have been the intention..

i think perhaps he shouldn't have used that reflection with that colour scheme especially but also because it's completely not the style of the rest of the site. i like his wooden background
