Yeah, I know what you mean. I tried using z-index to make them overlap a little neater but it made the middle two links hard to get at. But like you said, it does work. Plus if you disable styles it's literally one unordered-list with four list-items! Pretty lightweight.

I think you've survived from being Lead's (css) bitch - for now.

I'm afraid not harry. Your hit areas are WAY too big. They shouldn't extend past the white rectangles with the text on them. That's the difficult part. Everything else is easy.

Wha...?! Oh, right. I wasn't aware that was one of the conditions lol. It probably is doable by bunging and extra <span> in there, and loads of padding and stuff.

I emailed the company though, gave them the source and they seem happy enough. Nice bloke actually.

Yeah I did:

Hi,
Your interesting use of navigation was mentioned on Estetica Design Forum, and following its discussion I said it was possible to build with CSS.
It became something of a challenge, and I stepped up and made it. I hope you don't mind that I print-screened your images for it - but you are more than welcome to have (F.O.C) the source code and CSS. This will have obvious SEO and accessibility benefits for your site.

If you are interested in using it let me know and I'll zip up the files and send them over.

Regards,

Yeah, it's the main condition. I mentioned it back here: Interesting navigation.....

1 way yours is better though is that the hover for yours works in IE6 but mine doesn't. Why's that?
*edit* Also, mine pre-loads the hover images, yours doesn't :P
