Default rotating header

i've always used java to display a random header from a directory containing between 10-15 unique headers. however since uploading the page, my load times have shot through the roof, any suggestions as to why? or alternatives to a java.

I havent got the script handy as i'm at work, and i know there is a html equivalent, but i always just used the java (it was the first i found way back when and just kept the code lol).

it was only something small, literally 6-7 lines of code to randomise an image from a folder containing 10-15 different images.

"a java"? Do you mean Javascript? If so, could you give us a link to the page? JS that does what you're saying shouldn't impact page loading time.

yea sorry i meant a JS :x

unfortunately i wont be able to link to the site until a week friday, he is moving servers over the weekend and then i'm in wales for a week, which may in itself cure the problem, and the loadtime may of just been bad-timing at that particular moment.

fair enough :)

But how is it rotating the images? On a timed basis, eg. after 10 seconds it switches to another image? Or is it after each reload, it randomly selects a new image?

Could it be that the images are not web optimised, and that is causing it to slow?

Use this tutorial I wrote - it's PHP so obviously server side and generally quicker.
