Default Dreamweaver CS3 and Leopard

From doing a quick google search it seems anyone using Leopard, cant use Dreamweaver CS3 at the moment to build websites AND then upload them to a server via the inbuilt FTP.

Im looking for many of many things here...

Is there a way around this problem as I want to use Contribute which seems like it can only be used WITH dreamweaver

Can I use contribute with a different website builder...i.e. one as simple as Taco HTML Edit....?

Any light shed on these issues is really appreciated...

Phil

For the FTP issue, why not just use the FireFox plugin FireFTP.

Maybe i was slightly unclear in my first post. The FTP bit isnt a problem for me uploading websites as I use an external one anyway. HOWEVER...I udnerstand it as you can only use Contribute for the upkeep of websites that have been built and uploaded using Dreamwever......am I correct?

Thanks for trying tho Tommy ;)

Its all about "Editable Regions" Contribute works off "templates". The designer set's up the templates like regular web pages, then saves it as a .dwt (dreamweaver template) file extension. I suppose it would be possible to write the page without dreamweaver, but not easy.

I have a video on my page "Get Started with Contriubte CS3". About half way down there is a link for "Creating Dreamweaver Templates for Contribute CS3" A nice little video that should answer most of the questions you may have.

yeah, that shouldn't matter as long as you have to enable Contributed from within Dreamweaver before.. I don't understand what the issue was with Dreamweaver & Leopard to begin with.

Yeah, just read a discussion about Leopard... you try setting the FTP timeout from 2 seconds to 10? Some people said it was that simple of a fix.

We have received reports of this behavior for some Leopard users, however it has only affected a very small number of users.

This TechNote describes the problem a bit:
Dreamweaver CS3 could not connect to FTP site after Leopard (Mac OS X v10.5) upgrade

If upgrading to 10.5.2 does not resolve the issue, then the other workaround is to use the IP address of the server and/or try clearing the DNS cache by using the following command in Terminal: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
