No its not 3Dmax. Its Maya, and the renderer for the top image was Mentalray. the Second is a much older visual and was just Software renderer in maya.

Any Reason inperticular?

No reason to be sorry. The second image didnt use GI, the first used a semi GI look, but didnt want to focus to heavily on it. It was an experimental project really. Hehe no need for the sorrynes :) always good to hear input.

quick lesson on GI Boogrape :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_illumination
if you look at the two cornell boxes you can see that the one with the GI has more colour and light bounces in the dark areas.

The red looks fine in that sample, but the green is way off. That is an ok example but i persoanlly think there is far to much green spill. If you look at where the light is emitting from being the roof. There should be far more red spill than green. The green is far to prominant . Also the brightness of the white roof light pannel/opening there would be far more light traced on to the floor. The principles there but its either over exagerated for the green to bleed as far as it has for demonstration purposes or someone has muched up their shader characteristics :D
