Default Software picking

Well i now feel like i want to design some 3d desktop images and photoshop them, whats the best 3d package for Mac's? Needs to be universal.

20" iMac Core 2 Duo, 2Gb Ram, 256Mb ATI X1600

cinema 4d is for mac and pc and you can buy it in parts
check out maxon's site for more details. i am not saying its the best 3D app for the mac but i will say its a nice one to use. there is a demo version on their site (plus you can hunt for my name in the credits \0/ )

Does anyone use Blender or have any comments regarding it? I've also recently heard of Cheetah3d for the Mac. Anyone use these, or are these laughable programs compared to Maya, Lightwave, etc.

The best 3d app for you is the one that you feel comfortable using it. So try out the ones that you can download as of demo, and see which app fit you the best.
