Default Making flash sites

Hi

Already had a search in the forums for this but couldn't find anything on it.

I'm about to embark on making a Flash site - I've done a couple before for college but this one is for a band.

What I want to know is, for a site intro, is it best to make this in a different scene, or just use the preceding frames to the main site? If the scene option is the one to go for, how do I tie it up together?

Thanks for any help!

Craig

i dont know if this helps,

but when im creating a flash site i usually make the intro a symbol and then let it play in the first scene of the movie.

Then , within the symbolhave it to play the main movie when it is clicked.

Hope that helps

Hmm, ok, so make the intro sequence a movie clip? Can you make a 120 frame movie clip?

You got any examples of this?

depends what your intro is doing. If this is gonna be alot of animation / etc. use a seperate swf. If its simple, put it into a movieclip on the first frame. and have it play the time line when its down.

movieclips have timelines just like the main timeline.

never use scenes - when the Flash player moves from scene to scene transitional features such as looping movieclips and streaming sounds jump like a flea in a car park surrounded by robots.

either jump to other frames, load/unload movieclips or bring in seperate SWF's like mack said.

Sounds like what was up with one of the other things i did. So best policy is to use frames in the same scene. Sorted. Cheers!

Mack, what's the deal with putting an swf into a flash movie? Would you just import it as normal?!

Also, something you guys may be albe to help me with: this site is going to have to be updated form time to time with gig info and news etc - I think I'm ok with dynamic text, but does anyone know a way of making a photo album that can be updated in a similar way? I.e by someone who doesn't have Flash installed.

Basically they want to be able to update the text and if possible, add new images without using flash.

Ill assume this is AS 2.0

You can just loadmovie("folder/target.swf", "loadingmovieclip_mc") would be the simplest answer.
