I don't like how the writers are just relying so heavily on catchphrases and poor comedy to get laughs. Spider pig for example, funny as it was for those few seconds, doesn't have any lasting value.
I was just watching an old episode yesterday (the one where prohibition becomes enforced in springfield). After a car chase, homer's car gets wrecked. He parks it at home:
Marge: Home, what happened to the car?
Homer: Nothin'
Marge: I'm pretty sure it didn't have a bent axel before.
Homer: Before... BEFORE... you're livin' in the past marge, stop livin' in the past.
See, now that's just genius (though obviously loses some humour when someone's describing it). Even homer's first response "Nothin'" is just so unexpected and almost like it's not meant to be funny even though it is. And that makes it funny...
Ah who cares... it's a forum. Nobody, that's who.
