Our new Marketing Manager is moving our image library from external hard drives to DropBox. I'm not convinced this is the best way to go, but might just be clinging to my old fashioned methods!

I'm a grpahic designer, based in the Reprographics Department which is seperate from the Marketing Department who I also work closely with. My InDesign files all link to my external hard drive. I'm also wary of transferring all of my InDesign files to DropBox if it means I'm handing over access to people in Marketing who don't actually know what they're doing. There are four or five people in the Marketing Department, and another four or five in Reprographics.

Do people think there might be issues with this move or do I just need to get a grip and move with the times? I've not been included in this decision at all, which just makes me want to kick back against it.

I'm seeing a huge trend of designers and sometimes full studios doing work in Illustrator when they should clearly be using In Design.

I worked recently for a studio freelance and sat waiting for ages for their documents to open with all the images embedded in Illustrator. Why do people still do this? It's like designing a magazine in Photoshop or something!"!

What's the best way to do this. I have a floor plan of an office. What I'd like is a digital file people can access roll over a desk and details would pop up, Job title, image and name etc.

Obviously flash would be one way but I'm not kean on this, also what would you save it as? This is an offline project so is there a way to do this with a PDF say?

I could host it online if need be, what options would be doing it this way?
