Last summer I spent about 4 months and lots of money making a Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past board game. I had so much fun making... Hey everyone! Last summer I spent about 4 months and lots of money making a Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past board game. I had so much fun making it and me and some buddies play it occasionally. I just wanted to get your opinions on it. I based it off an old board game called Key to the Kingdom. I designed the board in photoshop, copying and pasting carefully all the SNES sprites from the game. and then I printed the sheets and put them on poster board. Of course this is more of a prototype but its still fun to play. I made the treasures, equipment and monster cards and got them laminated to have a glossy look. The link pieces were made from someone i found on etsy.com.

I'd like to hear everyone's feedback. And my next project is going to be a He-Man board game.. I will need some help with the game board though if anyone is interested in helping me

Like I said I loved making this and probably would make more in the future based off other video games. Its basically my goal to become a boardgame designer or something along those lines...Anyway, here is the link to where you can see pics:

I'm planning a spring-clean of my blog soon, and I'm looking into options for passive income and monetization. I've had a small amount of success with affiliate links and promoting design books, but click-throughs and sales die down dramatically after Christmas/New Year.

I'm debating trying the odd Adsense ad, though I doubt I'll stick with it as I'm not a fan of including sidebar/banner adverts on portfolio sites/blogs. Plus some of the sites are not the sort of place I'd want to link to (crowdsourcing for example), though you can hide ads from particular sites which I guess is good.

Anyone got any experiences or suggestions they'd wish to share? I am looking for a solution for printing directly on hang tag price cards. I know there are special printers which can do the job, but I am unable to find it on the web. The size of the hang tag would bee about 10 x 3 cm, on 300 - 400g paper. I have found some price sticker/label printers, but I would like to avoid them, in order to achieve a nice clean printing directly on the tag cards.

I would be really grateful for any suggestion.

It can be for any reason you feel... I thought it might be fun to pose the question asking what the worst project you ever had to work on was? It can be for any reason you feel appropriate but my train of thought was mostly on content. That moment when you're thinking to yourself, "They want me to do what?" To get things started I thought I'd share mine.

During my first year as a professional I worked for an ad agency where I designed a faux magazine for a client. By that, I mean it was really just a big ad but done up to look all smart and newsy. Anyway, the problem I had was what this company did.

They sold bull sperm for farmers to inseminate their cattle with.

Now, it was difficult enough working for just such an industry and to keep it joke-free. My first photo shoot was for this "mag" but that's not the worst of it (thankfully not a live-action shoot, otherwise well...). No, the worst was this: A specific bull named "Southwind" that this company owned had donated a LOT to the cause. So much so that a researcher of the company's figured that if you lined up Southwind's donated spunk one after the other it could travel to the moon, orbit it twice and return back to earth.

So… they wanted me to create a graphic or visual of this for a spread in this "mag". By then I had had enough. But not before I pictured an image of a guy lassoing the moon with a sperm rope. Also a retooling of the Sherwin-Williams logo popped into my mind and has never left. In the end, all they got was a stock photo of the moon. I have yet to work on a project that conjures worse imagery to me. I only wish future-me could have told present-me back then that it gets better. Back then, I thought I was in for very long, soul-crushing career.
