You need a bird to all that for you mate, much easier
Right, I got a call just over a week ago from Tiscali telling me that someone had to be in between 8am and 1pm (a 5 hour margin, I know!) 10 Nov (yesterday) to let an engineer in to do some stuffness to get my shizzle working for the internets.
So, I dipped into my holiday allowance and booked a full day off, with a view to going to the bank to sort more thingies in the afternoon.
Now, as I had to be in 8am-1pm I had to take a quick 10minute shower, and couldn't go and get some milk fr fear of missing them. I was sat in the house drinking black coffee watching shitty daytime T.V. waiting for someone to show up.
1pm came and went, so at 1.30pm I rang up to chase the engineer. After 20 mins of pressing 1 for this, 2 for that and 3 to be taken right back to the ******* start I got through to someone asking all the questions that aren't needed to tell me when an engineer will be on my doorstep.
Anyway, the advice was wait til 4pm - still no milk and no chance of getting to the bank.
4pm came and went and at 5 I rang back up (same ball achey faff as before, but a little longer). After 10 mins of telling them that they don't need my DOB or email to tell me where Clive the spanner man is they figured out that:
"It appears that you have been connected remotely. You don't require an engineer and therefore one won't be coming today."
I said "Well why wasn't I told? I've booked a full day off work waiting for someone who isn't even coming?! Why didn't you call me? You have my number - that's how the engineer was scheduled in the first place?!"
They replied "Thank you for calling Tiscali, have a nice day."
I felt like saying "I'll enjoy what's left of it shall I? I mean I've done f*&k all so far but maybe I should throw a party, do you want to come?"
Anyway, yeah. Aresholes.

We had this problem getting internet in this flat with BT, they kept sending engineers round when we didn't need one (we got like 5 visits from engineers) and each time they said 'Oh there's nothing wrong this end'. GRRR WE KNOW THAT we got told that 4 times before. We kept telling them it's a problem at the exchange, but no, they had to keep sending engineers round to our flat. Telecoms companies are ****tards.
ooooook...
Note to self: dont get Tiscali / BT in new house... get Virgin.. stored
Totally - I have had horrendous experiences with them both.
Harry - beware of tiscali - trhey continued to trey to take dd's out of my account for 6 months after I'd cancelled my contract with them and their Indian call centres are appalling. Boardband support is based there and honestly it takes 20 mins just to go through the data protection!

Oh poo. Never had problems with Tiscali at home with the fam though...
Did you notice how many typos I had in that last post??? Tiscali are cheap but you get what you pay for, certainly with them anyway. I wouldn't touch them with yours!
