Default Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium - GoLive

Hi,

Bascially, I received Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium edition today after winning it. I'd just like to know whether the GoLive application included is useful and whether it produces 'good' coding as I created my previous site using frontpage to save time, which resulted in a few comments regarding the coding of the site.

If someone could clear this up for me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kieren

I'll get the rope, Kieren and promise to miss me when I'm gone....

YES....Even as a trainee designer Go-live in layout view still writes clean code in divs. If you write and plan your css layout in the code view you can build full sites with a code thats worth developing later on. Don't follow go-live tutorials follow coding tutorials and it will show you the borders between good coding and table based DW learner code.

I'm gonna run and hide now good luck!!!

PS. That's not me or a PC present, just the only relevant pic I could find on google image to do with hiding.

Is it difficult to use, as I don't know exactly what you mean by the 'i'm gonna run and hide now good luck!!!' comment.

Go-live is not well respected in the web design arena mostly because DW led the way but that layout I knoced up for you with the logo took 15 minutes in Go-live using the external css build. So yes it's easy to get your head round and (in my opinion) the best lead into hand coding. If you give it a shot you know where I am if you need a hand.

Here's the site have a look at the code it's not that messy in layout view for learning..

http://www.clarksprint.co.uk/k/

and it fails one validation due to the lazy search option I used...

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...t.co.uk%2Fk%2F

Upper case code I am lazy sometimes.

In the package I received I also received dreamweaver 8, which of the two programs would you say is best

I can't say it's a personal choice, I'm not a dreamweaver fan but i'm in the minority so it's maybe better to ask other peoples opinions, many people started in dreamweaver so they must be right, but make sure you don't depend on the layout view. If you do choose to dabble in both which might not be a bad idea (with the web you have to look from a thousand different points of view) I don't mind giving you a few pointers from go-live. Sarah and I think Flashwiz are more experienced with hand coding and dreamweaver layouts so they might be able to give you a few pointers.
