I don't know much about speed. but would it not screw up your perceptions and cause you to create utter crap?

Just as a recommendation, I would never use craigslist to find design work personally. The whole concept behind craigslist stimulates the idea that you can get everything cheap and fast. This typically does not work well with my business model.

I do not wish to be the cheap guy, nor do I enjoy the stress of having to work under unreasonable deadlines.

I wrote an article on my blog about this if anyone is interested...

Yes, great blog article. I would recommend, if anyone really wants business from craigslist, post yourself as a service, do not try to tackle a job that's there.

By posting yourself as a service, you put yourself in charge of a lot more. Such as the price that YOU set, as well as other stipulations forfeited by the typical "I'm interested in your job and therefore must accept your terms". Always best to set the standards, after all, you are the professional aren't you?

I wouldn't necessarily agree with the "cheap guy" theory... craigslist while it may have its "deals" (especially the "For sale--> Free Stuff" section), but it also has a grassroots down to earth, hippie, following.

I've found several cool jobs on there.. like this one for example:
Job Offer | Web Programming

Tommy you obviously have a different outlook on work than me. I tend to have an Entrepreneurial spirit, one that does not trade work for skydiving. If this is something that interests you and that you can afford to do then go for it.

The only problem with this is that in the future these clients are only gonna come back to you expecting the same deal, work for trade. I prefer to build my business, so I cannot afford to do this.

I know my article is a little harsh, but its just my opinion...
