I already did.. LONG ago but you are another thing all together, I know your business and typical client scenario. ie: You often outsource your developer needs, leaving the creative content portion up to your company because thats your forte. I fished that out of you a while back. And you have a LOT of experience in the print industry, so it fits.

And btw.. standard business practice on my part... I ALWAYS research a company, a person, everyone... Before I do business with them, I want to know as much as I can about their practices. It helps me build a better product, knowing their character.

My final take on this is that this person got themselves caught in a sticky situation somehow and needs to get this project done, ASAP (as I'm sure most of us have).. Bills do need to get paid ya know. I dunno, I could be wrong.

I am looking into this particular persons needs a bit deeper to see how I may be able to help or what I might be able to do .

Daryl,

If you are running a design company you should be aware of what constitutes speculative work. Making an offer that only results in payment if the work is selected would be speculative. I am not telling you how to run your business, but this is not considered the most ethical way to find new work. Especially if the work takes a week to complete.

A persons portfolio and an interview should be enough for you to determine if they are qualified or not.

Practicing business this way will turn off a lot of the extremely qualified candidates...
